Following the acquisition of OAASIS Group by DistributionNOW earlier this year, the Great Yarmouth OAASIS office received new computer systems as our previous set-ups were not compatible with what was needed to integrate.
As many of our clients will know, OAASIS are proactive in helping the community and charity as part of our social responsibility as a company; we are committed to supporting our local community and protecting the environment around us.
After having our new systems installed, we were left with a surplus of computer towers and monitors in next to new condition which we certainly didn’t want to go to waste!
We decided to support two locally based charities by donating a number of complete computer set-ups for use at their headquarters in Norwich. The two charities we chose both support young people and adults with disabilities in the local area.
The BUILD Charity is a Norfolk based independent registered charity providing social, leisure and learning opportunities to people with sensory, physical or learning disabilities, established in Norwich in 1967. They provide a wide range of community based activities across Norfolk, with opportunities to take part in social clubs, gardening, outdoor and cultural activities as well as skills learning workshops.
I would like to say a huge thank you for the donation of the computer equipment which we received recently. This equipment represents a significant saving for us in the cost of a planned upgrade of our office and training computers allowing us to re-direct funds to support more people with disabilities in Norfolk.
– James Kearns, Chief Executive of the BUILD Charity
Mr Kearns said that the computers will be used by their beneficiaries to access a special online training program designed to help them gain more confidence and knowledge using the internet and also provide administration facilities for their volunteers.
The Hamlet Centre Trust, now known simply as The Hamlet, provides recreational, educational and social opportunities for children and adults with profound disabilities and complex health needs. As a charity they support and enrich the lives of families, children and adults at two locations in Norwich by providing a range of activities for both children and young adults.
The team at OAASIS were delighted to receive a thank you letter from each of the charities – but even more pleased with the smiles on the photos!
